Role overview:
The Financial Crime Technology position at Malverde offers the chance to assist financial institutions and FinTechs in designing, implementing, and enhancing technology solutions to detect and prevent financial crime. In this role, you will analyze clients' current processes, identify gaps, and provide recommendations for improvement, particularly in areas such as transaction monitoring, customer screening, and payment fraud detection. Collaboration with Malverde team members and client stakeholders will be essential to ensuring successful project delivery. To excel in this role, you will need strong analytical, consulting, and technical skills, along with a solid understanding of financial crime regulations and technology.
You’ll get to:
Collaborate with leading FinTechs, challenger banks, and payments firms to design, implement and optimise fraud and financial crime controls and technology
Analyze client processes and technology, recommending and executing improvements to deliver measurable results
Work closely with client stakeholders to understand their goals and collaboratively achieve successful outcomes
Work with teams of subject matter experts to identify the best solutions and deliver exceptional results
Contribute to proposal writing, client pitches, and proposition development to support business growth
Play a vital role in growing our business and sharing in its success

Core skills required:
Strong business analysis skills with the ability to critically assess problems and present findings clearly to varied audiences
Excellent consulting skills, including presentation, verbal, and written communication
Applied understanding of fraud and financial crime controls and technology, such as customer screening, payment screening, customer risk assessment models, transaction monitoring, and fraud detection
Familiarity with financial crime regulations – e.g. FCA Handbook, JMLSG, FATF, Money Laundering Regulations, and Payment Services Regulations
A degree with a 2:1 or above
3+ years of experience in a financial crime role, whether in consultancy, a financial institution, or a software vendor
Nice to have:
Experience with fraud technology, including payment fraud detection
Knowledge of fraud typologies such as Authorised Push Payment (APP) fraud
Data analysis skills, including working with data feeds, Excel, SQL, and creating data visualisations

We operate hybrid working and believe that time together in-person is beneficial to developing relationships, coaching, mental health and collaboration (especially for a small firm). We currently aim to work 3 days in our office in Shoreditch, East London and 2 days remotely. Requirements may vary depending on a given clients needs, however post-COVID it is rare for a client to require us to be in their office full-time.
