Role overview:
As a Financial Crime Technology Consultant at Malverde you will help financial institutions and FinTechs to design, implement, and optimise technology solutions designed to detect and prevent financial crime. This role involves analysing clients' existing processes, identifying gaps, and recommending improvements, particularly in areas like transaction monitoring, customer screening, and payment fraud detection. You will work collaboratively with other Malverde team members and our clients’ stakeholders to deliver projects successfully. Strong analytical, consulting, and technical skills are key to success in this role, along with an understanding of financial crime regulations and technology.
You’ll get to:
Collaborate with leading FinTechs, challenger banks, and payments firms to design, implement and optimise fraud and financial crime controls and technology
Analyze client processes and technology, recommending and executing improvements to deliver measurable results
Work closely with client stakeholders to understand their goals and collaboratively achieve successful outcomes
Work with teams of subject matter experts to identify the best solutions and deliver exceptional results
Contribute to proposal writing, client pitches, and proposition development to support business growth
Play a vital role in growing our business and sharing in its success

Core skills required:
Strong business analysis skills with the ability to critically assess problems and present findings clearly to varied audiences
Excellent consulting skills, including presentation, verbal, and written communication
Applied understanding of fraud and financial crime controls and technology, such as customer screening, payment screening, customer risk assessment models, transaction monitoring, and fraud detection
Familiarity with financial crime regulations – e.g. FCA Handbook, JMLSG, FATF, Money Laundering Regulations, and Payment Services Regulations
A degree with a 2:1 or above
3+ years of experience in a financial crime role, whether in consultancy, a financial institution, or a software vendor
Nice to have:
Experience with fraud technology, including payment fraud detection
Knowledge of fraud typologies such as Authorised Push Payment (APP) fraud
Data analysis skills, including working with data feeds, Excel, SQL, and creating data visualisations
